I wrote an article for Timshel Magazine on “How to Host an Event that Empowers.” Creating such events is important to me because I think of the old version of me who…⠀⠀⠀⠀

…believed she was shy so was afraid to meet people;⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
…didn’t think her voice mattered so stayed quiet;⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
…was a perfectionist so believed she had to perform or people wouldn’t like her;⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
…didn’t know her worth so didn’t think anyone wanted her around…

I create for that old version of me and think of her as I plan every detail. You are on my mind, old self, and I create to remind you that you get your worth from being, not doing. You have value just for showing up and giving us your presence. You alone are enough.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The following is an excerpt from the article:⠀⠀⠀

Empowerment doesn’t come from what we look like, how we dress or saying just the right things. We are empowered when we feel like we can be ourselves wholly. It comes not from changing or fixing ourselves to fit in, but from accepting ourselves as we are, flaws and all, and trusting in our value enough to let others see us.
