I am a truthteller.⠀

I speak my truth because I carried my family’s shame by suppressing my voice.⠀

I speak my truth because I’ve always rejected who I was and believed there was something wrong with me.⠀

I speak my truth because I was taught to not trust myself so I tried to stay invisible.⠀⠀⠀⠀

I speak my truth because I wasn’t allowed to have feelings so numbed myself until I couldn’t feel anything and tolerated what I shouldn’t.⠀⠀

I speak my truth because I always looked outside myself for my value instead of within.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I speak my truth because I’ve spent my entire life hiding, afraid of being seen.

I’ve chosen to no longer be afraid. I want to be seen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Thank you Women for One for my Truthteller t-shirt which I’ve earned for speaking my truth on stage at the #truthtellertour last year. I so wanted to photoshop this picture because the lighting emphasizes my jowls but decided to practice what I preach and not reject any parts of myself and show up as I am.
