I was recently asked to give a little bio to someone and the question was phrased, “tell us who you are.” Who am I? I thought. Of course there are the identities like woman, Asian American, photographer, community builder, mother, wife, daughter, etc… While all of these make up the important building blocks of who I am, none of these external things define me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I responded simply, “I am.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am is a complete sentence. We don’t need to attach an identity or label or anything else to who we are to define or describe ourselves. We don’t need something external to give us our sense of self, value or worth.

You have value for being human.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You are amazing as you are.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You are enough.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You are.
