When you enroll in WomanSpeak, part of your homework assignment is to watch training videos by founder KCBaker. In this month’s practice of eliminating fillers (umms, ahhs, ands, etc.), something she said really struck me. “Forget about saying the right thing. Just say the true thing.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we get stuck in our heads by speaking only from our minds and memorizing words, we end up focusing too much on finding just the right words. When you’re in your head, you disconnect from the people with whom you are speaking. That creates an energy of inauthenticity. So what if, instead, we focused only on the now and trusted our guts enough to say what was true in that very moment? How would that resonate with the people listening to you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is a difference between speaking to say the right thing, which is about the external and approval, vs. speaking to say what is true, which is about you. The truth about speaking, and everything else for that matter, is that we are all a mirror to each other. How you feel is how your audience will feel. Truth is found in listening to our guts, our pauses and silence. Learning to trust these things is how we eliminate fillers, not perfectly memorizing lines.

Join us for WomanSpeak Intro Class virtually this Wednesday @9am PT/@12pm ET and take a journey into yourself so you can learn to trust yourself and just say the true thing.
