You cannot think your way to change. You have to process change in your body.

Shifting our mindset and reframing around a monthly theme is something we do in WomanSpeak. When someone first heard this at an Intro Class, she replied, “you can’t just think about things differently and then stop feeling fear when you speak.” She is absolutely right and that is why we take the mindset shift and put it directly into practice through speaking.

Every single member must speak at every single meeting. This is how we create change, first in our minds and then in our bodies. It is a fully embodied speaking practice that teaches us to stay connected to our bodies when we speak so that we rewire our nervous system and teach our bodies that it’s safe to speak.

Whether it’s speaking or creating change in your life, we can’t just will our brains to change. We must also find safe spaces to practice that in our bodies or the work is incomplete.
